SOCIAL DISTANCING

As COVID19 instantaneously changed the way we live, physical gathering & community is under attack, and our future as humanity is uncertain.

The traditional way of doing things will be no more, and it is up to us how we will reinvent ourselves in our lives and our work.

The human relationship with the built environment has evolved across generations; suddenly, NOW it's interrupted once again.

In the past, this has happened; the rise of specialization during the industrial revolution pushed us into developing two different built environments, the PUBLIC (work, gather, play), the PRIVATE (where we live, rest, enjoy, grow)

With the introduction of cars, our human existence once again changed, and separation came imminent, with sub-urban sprawl for the past 60 years.

Architectural design has promoted the future as density, cities have been the primary solution to our growing population and its impact on the natural environment.

We have seen the return to cities and the rebirth of DENSITY in cities.

As COVID-19 changed the way we live, we are suddenly experiencing the physical distance enabled by the digital world.

This new culture of cautious proximity "Social Distancing" has us evaluating the live/work relationship within both urban and rural settings once again.

The long-standing concepts of gathering to work in one place and retreating to live in another place have vanished almost immediately.

Now we ask ourselves - What is the new relationship between live & work?

We find ourselves reflecting on degrees of sustainability (self-sufficiency) and what the future holds for humanity.

OUR 2020 WISH.

We would like to have the opportunity to lead the next development wave, one that brings work at home possibilities integrated with family multi-generational interactions, affordability, and entertainment.

We would like to design a series of buildings that strengthen our neighborhoods, cultivating social interaction and community,

Imagine... A wonderful, walkable neighborhood to be part of. Stunning views and proportion; beautiful buildings, greenery, parks that offer an array of activities for all ages, a place where peace and joy are experienced by its inhabitants, where bars, cinemas, restaurants, markets, and shopping are in the vicinity, and bicycles are the way to travel on daily bases.

DISTANCIA SOCIAL
